Rachel Maddow gets her own show on MSNBC

The crew over here at the Viva Chuck Todd offices can't but help feel proud that someone we've been a big fan of for a while finally got her shot.

It was announced today that starting September 8th, Rachel Maddow will debut her own show at 9:00pm est/6:00pm pst replacing Verdict with Dan Abrams.

MSNBC network president, Phil Griffin said it best, "This just completes our prime-time lineup. Our lineup makes sense now." Griffin went on to dispel the assumptions by some that Rachel's show would have a significant left-leaning bias, "We’re hiring Rachel because she’s a smart person. Rachel goes far beyond politics. She’s an expert on military affairs. She was a Rhodes scholar."

We challenge Roger Ailes to get behind a microphone and laud the academic credentials of his prime-time lineup.

Well, I am happy Maddow has her own show now, but I really like Verdict.

I like Verdict too, but lately it had become too gossipy. Too much celebrity BS.

I can't wait for Rachel to verbally bitchslap Brad Blakeman if they keep any of Dan's panel!

Great news! Though I would have preferred that she took the Hardball Rerun slot (or even Gregory's, though that would almost guarentee lil' Davey the Meet the Press gig...)

Dan's show has some good segments, but lately it has become the MSNBC version of CNN Headline News. Between occasional stories about horrible crimes and light-hearted viral videos, Dan rarely got to the substance of the political stories. And the winners or losers segment was slowly devouring more and more screentime.

With Maddow's new show, the perfect MSNBC lineup is within sight. All Phil Griffin has to do now is steal Jack Cafferty away from CNN and team him up with Mike Barnicle and Pat Buchanan for a three-person panel I like to call "Harrumph!"

well, i'll step up to be the black sheep here and say that dan abrams has always melted my face, and not in a good way.

i'll also agree, though, that 2 episodes of hardball within 2 hours of each other is a bit much. maybe they could use one of those time slots to give willie geist his own show next...?

but all that aside, OMG GRATS RACHEL!!!11 =D

LMMFAO!!! Jack Cafferty, Old Man Barnicle and Patrick James Buchanon...That might just challenge Countdown for the top spot in my heart. That was pure perfection. HAHAHAHAHA Harrumph! MSNBC's Newest show! "Get Off My Lawn!" Must...stop... laughing...

Rachel should have originally ousted Gregory on Race, not only because she was the best host that show ever saw, but because im sick of gregory, or as my love calls him, monkey face, stepping all over rachel like a sexist pigdog. But im even happier that shes getting her own show. Can we still get rid of gregory tho?

Gratz to Rachel. Now that we are one step closer to the perfect world where Rachel Maddow is queen, what can we do to make The Chuck king?

Sorry to see Verdict go, but it stopped being really good at about the time they changed the name of the show. Wow, how bad is it when you jump the shark during your first opening credits?

Wow, this is awesome! Dan Abrams was so boring and that hand-wave before he signed off...yeesh!

Seeing Keith followed by Rachel will significantly warm my liberal heart as Election day grows ever closer.

Just what we need to get us through to the election. Although, I have to say that the aforementioned "Harrumph" would be the greatest show in the history of cable television

I just spewed coffee all over my key board with the Harrumh show of Jack Cafferty, Old Man Barnicle and Patrick James Buchanon. I'd pay to see that trio.

I'm thrilled for Rachel! Maybe now she can afford a stylist. As a gayelle radio personality she never had to concern herself with hair, makeup, and wardrobe and I understand that. But now is the time to retire her two gray sport coats and kick it up a notch or three.

I am happy for Rachel I always thought the she need her on program prime time. Even though I like verdict that was an idea time for her. Its still to early to replace Gregory.
